Watercolor Studies

I am working on Bob of Bayonne, a personal project which I hope to gain some momentum on soon.
Here are a couple watercolor studies I did of Bob. I am not sure of how I want to approach final art yet so I am playing with a couple different approaches.  Flat color vs ink and wash...or maybe straight
watercolors. Ugh....decisions, decisions!

Be A Super Hero!!

Yes, you too can be a Super Hero! Well, at least on paper. This is a piece I did for a client all the way down under in Australia. Seems her fiance is a Spiderman fan and she wanted to surprise him with a custom comic of herself and  him dressed as the web slinger .  This was done in brush and ink then colored digital and e-mailed as a pdf file for the client to print out.  Please click on image to enlarge.

A Different Approach

Not everyone is into the super hero or slapstick vibe that many comics are known for.
And many people are simply not aware of the wide variety of comics and graphic novels that are available in print and on the web which run from realistic and slick to primitive and raw. There is artwork which is created in so many mediums and styles, both traditional and digital that it will have your head doing a Linda Blair.
Not everyone is a fanatic comic book geek!! Yes, I know...hard to believe but it's true.
I thought it would be good to post this piece I just completed for a couple because it's just another example of what can be done in a comic format.
This was done in watercolor and ink with very minimal text to convey it's message.

Summer 2013

Well Summer is winding down. My wife Chris and I did not spend near as much time at the beach as we would have liked. I think everyone would agree this was a very "strange" Summer weather wise.
Here is a little commissioned piece that really sums it up. Please click onto image to enlarge.

Fun Doodle with Big Headed Evil Guy

These are three characters I doodled and decided to scan and color. Big headed evil guys, they have been around forever. One of my favorites is the Marvel character"The Leader". He battled
the Hulk in many issues and has a helluva dome!

Zombie Art

I have been drawing and painting some Zombie themed pieces lately for a couple reasons...They are fun...and they sell! I mean we're all Capitalists at heart.
I try and make these pieces as affordable as possible so many are done on wood, cardboard or old canvas. Prices start at $15 a print and increase with size. The majority sell for between $35 - $60
and I sell most of them at the Farmer's Market in Downtown Wilmington every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month.
"Vegan Zombie" is a favorite. If you are interested in purchasing one, please contact me markweber2@gmail.com  Please click on image to enlarge.

Sketching and Cleaning

Well, it's been hectic these past few months so I will use that as an excuse as t why I have not posted
anything. The Custom Caricatures have been keeping me very busy for one thing.
I also received a commission for a 21 page comic which is currently in the pencil stages.
Can't wait to go to inks on it! I will post samples from it after getting the ok from the client etc.,
when it is finished.

In the meantime, this is a sketch I did to warm up yesterday. I cleaned it up , framed it and colored it.
